life without a camera

...is boring. I have lots of things and thoughts to share with you, but (I don't have a camera....) I am easily distractible and I have work to take home every night (even on holidays, hurrah!) I am working on a mac also which makes things 10000 times harder. I don't know how to do anything! curse apple and i-things and all of that. iCan't believe iWant an iPhone. (sorry I had to!)

Anyway.

Eric started rehab yesterday and he "graduates" July 31st. I get to see him when he completes 26 days. I can't wait.

this weekend

On Saturday I *helped my family in their Relay For Life. Unfortunately, my shoes decided to hate on me and give me a blister so I only walked a few laps (BOOO!) but I did donate $50 in the form of a silent auction... and I got...

A 2 HOUR MASSAGE!

I am really really excited. I never really splurge on anything and although Eric is great and can give a near professional massage he lives in MD and he is not always very generous on massages. So I can't wait, I want to book this ASAP! :)

Today I picked up some great finds and perhaps I will show them off soon :)
(the $39 was actually $9 as well! yesssss)

Guess where? ;) I even bumped into a new 90210 starlet. I remember years back I bumped into Mischa Barton in the same store! Anyway, four days of work to go then I am off for a glorious TEN DAYS while our production office is closed for our summer holiday. Friday I am getting up bright and early and heading up to NorCal to visit my best gal Hol :) I cannot wait to see her! It has been an embarrassingly long time since we've spent any quality time together. Probably March 2006! Super excited to see her new HOUSE!

Look at us as babies! 311 tour '04 :)

Today in history...

2001.
I was 16. I was finishing my sophmore year of high school, and super-mega-crazy obsessed with Stone Temple Pilots and 311 (surprise surprise!) and this day was just about The. Biggest. Day. Ever!

Somehow, the planets aligned and the CD release dates of my two all time faves fell on the same day. I remember getting out of school, driving to the store, and buying both From Chaos and Shangri-La Dee Da and completely overflowing with ecstasy. I listened to 311 in the car then got home and laid on my bed and cranked up the STP cd.

311's 6th album and Stone Temple Pilots's 5th... and final :( but  supposedly...maaaaybe, right now, they are recording another one. I am not holding my breath!

Last year, I had the shock/pleasure of my (still-17-year-old-mind's) life when STP reunited and I was invited to their reunion show. INVITED! it was insane. I quit my job in Colorado, packed all my shit and moved back to LA in the span of a week and a half. Probably insane, but it was really a once in a lifetime thing to be bused up to Houdini's house and see STP's first show in yeaaars. And it was beyond completely amazing. It was so great, so magical. They played Lady Picture Show and I cried. During Trippin' I had to go into the bathroom and call a friend and cry. Totally mortifying, I really was a teenager that night.

Here's a few pics, I didn't want to post too many:

Another great STP/311 coincidence happened last year. I practically had a heart attack. (yes, I am the. biggest. loser. on. the. planet.) 311 played Red Rocks on July 1 and STP played Red Rocks on July 2. !!! Red Rocks is practically my favorite venue on the planet. It alone is magic, but throw in my two favorite bands ever, for 10 years and forever on, I am happy. Ecstatic :) Maybe I'm easy to please. I do appreciate the little things in life.

Oh and BTW, I was on TV when 311 was on Jimmy Kimmel a few weeks back. It's going to rerun *Monday night but here's a teaser :)

the Special K challenge!

So, I am not happy with my weight. AT ALL! I've been a comfy, lazy bum. I eat what I want, (drink!!), I lay around and somehow only manage to really hit the gym once or twice a month. yes, A MONTH! Usually I'll get Pedro out for a long run about once a week.

This has all got to change. I said to myself when everything started with Eric's restriction, that I'd start going every day... but it hasn't happened! UGH! But now that I've started going to Al-anon and trying to be sound of mind AND body... I gotta start doing something about this. I hit the gym on tuesday, got up early and took Pedro for a run on wednesday... I think my problem is I stay up SOO late (which I know is not healthy) but I just love being a night owl and just staying up doing absolutely nothing. Seriously, I look at the clock and it's 2AM and I have no idea what I just did for the last few hours. It's infuriating!

So to help me slim down and knock me out of this rut... I am trying... THE SPECIAL K CHALLENGE! :) What it is is just eating and drinking a mix of their products, which I actually REALLY REALLY enjoy.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Vanilla Almond Crunch cereal, yummm

Blueberry and Chocolate 90 calorie bars!

Iced Tea protein water packets, they help curb your hunger ;)

I have always been a big fan of the cereal, and just this week tried the bars and the water. So, the deal is, you eat a bowl of cereal in the morning, a bar for lunch and a regular meal for your dinner. I did this the last few days and it wasn't even hard! And I looove to eat. I love fried food, chicken wings, burgers, cheese, chocolate, ice cream, you name it, I love it! But ALSO, I do like healthy foods. Salmon, grilled chicken, tuna, veggies, salads. I'm not that picky, I get down with it all. Another upside of this is my work is only 2 blocks off of a Bristol Farms which has a salad bar and ooodles and ooodles of yummy, healthy food options. And I just realized, a small salad will only cost me $4!

I need to get into the gym 4-5 times a week. This includes running, hiking, cardio, lifting, yoga, pilates, arms, legs... etc! Last year I had a goal of getting Evangeline Lilly toned arms and I was really good there for a while. I just think having a boyfriend and working so far from where I live has sucked all the energy out of me and given me a good excuse to be lazy.

HELP! What are your health tips?? :)
